The students’ union of Obafemi Awolowo University has called for a special congress of OAU students following the minimal reduction of school fees by the university, as opposed to its request for a fifty percent reduction.
Recall that Infocus New Agency had earlier reported that the university management invited the students’ union for an emergency meeting to be presided over by the vice chancellor, Prof. Simeon Bamire.
In a release made available by the students’ union, it deems it important to inform the great ife students of the outcome of the meeting and the way forward.
The congress is scheduled to take place at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at the SUB (Aluta Square).
The union urges its members to suspend payment “until a final and favourable agreement had been made.”
