Approved Charges for Undergraduates

Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, has released its approved undergraduate charges for the 2026/2027 academic session, with different fees for faculties and categories of students.

The approved charges are contained in a document titled Approved Charges for Undergraduate Students for 2026/2027 Session, released on October 30, 2026. The document contains 21 categories of fees, including faculty and departmental charges, library, registration, examination, health, electricity, municipal and utility charges.

Previously, the university’s school fees were at ₦131,000 for freshmen and ₦76,000 for returning students, also known as Staylites in Arts and Humanities. However, the newly displayed figures have increased to ₦161,000 for freshmen and ₦98,000 for Staylites.

Under the new schedule, freshmen in the Faculty of Science, including Environmental Design and Management, Technology, Agriculture and Science Education, are expected to pay ₦203,000, while returning students in the same faculty group will pay ₦108,000.

Freshmen in the Faculty of Pharmacy are billed ₦226,000, while returning students will pay ₦131,000. Similarly, freshers in Basic Medical Sciences, Clinical Sciences and Dentistry are expected to pay ₦226,000 and 326000, while returning students are billed ₦231,000.

The differences in fees across faculties are largely due to additional charges such as laboratory, studio and professional fees. Laboratory charges range from ₦25,000 to ₦45,000, depending on the faculty, while students in the Faculties of Arts and Law are required to pay ₦15,000 in studio charges. Returning students in Basic Medical Sciences, Clinical Sciences and Dentistry are also required to pay an additional professional fee of ₦100,000.

Other fees paid by both freshmen and returning students include ₦15,000 for faculty and departmental charges, ₦10,000 for library charges, ₦15,000 for registration, ₦10,000 for health services, ₦6,000 for the Students’ Welfare Insurance Scheme, ₦5,000 for municipal and utility charges, and ₦6,000 for electricity.

Some charges, including acceptance, matriculation, caution, medical screening, ICT training and development or endowment fees, are only applicable to fresh students.

The university’s 2026/2027 fee schedule maintains its tuition-free status, with the listed charges covering other administrative, academic and student-related services.
