An exclusive interview with the erstwhile ESAN president, Honourable Teslim Ayobami.
Interviewer: It’s nice to have you here. Can you briefly introduce yourself?
TSA: Tesleem Ayobami S. by name, popularly and politically known as Hon. TSA. The erstwhile faculty of education president, OAU chapter.
Interviewer: What inspired your choice to study education and English language at OAU?
TSA: My career choice. I was never a wounded lawyer, I chose to study Education and English and I was offered.
Interviewer: Wow! That’s nice. When did you develop the passion to study education and English?
TSA: Rightly after I discovered my calling and my passion for teaching.
Interviewer: So, you have been teaching before you gained admission into OAU?
TSA: As far back as 2013.
Interviewer: That’s a really long time. Your passion for politics, did it start before you gained admission into Oau, or it started here in OAU?
TSA: Passion for politics? No! One thing I have noticed is that the more I flee from it, the closer I get. It’s been like that before I gained admission.
Interviewer: So, it is something that always finds you wherever you are?
TSA: Aptly.
Interviewer: During your tenure as the president of the faculty, were there some moments you cherish and some down moments?
TSA: Even life as a journey is full of ups and downs.
Interviewer: Is there any you would like to share?
TSA: They were not in anyways special. Just the normal blessings and lessons. Just moments when allies turned foes and foes turned allies, your intimates turned strangers and vice versa, your confidants turned opponents and vice versa, some plans fell through while some were successful, etc., and they were all expected.
Interviewer: That must have been a lot to take in then.
TSA: Definitely, one just needs to learn to grow through it.
Interviewer: Concerning the issue of most education and English language students not convocating this year, has there always been similar occurrences like this in the past in the unit?
TSA: Definitely, just that it was never worse as at the latest one.
Interviewer: How can you describe your experience as a student at OAU?
TSA: Hmm, full of mysteries. But in all, I thank God and the management for the opportunity bestowed on me to be an alumnus. The pride is extrinsic.
Interviewer: That is nice. As we wrap up, is there any advice you would like to give students in the faculty?
TSA: One thing I will keep reiterating is that what’s worth doing at all is what doing well. Inferiority complex as an education student should never be an option. We are what we are, as they’re what they are.
