The OAU school administration representatives and the representatives of the students’ union met in the Ajose lecture theater on September 19, 2023, to discuss the increase in tuition.
Following the release of the newly proposed school fee, there have been several reactions from the students’ union, its members, and other individuals.
The students’ union released a memo that highlights key points of the meeting.
According to the memo, “the university management claimed that the total reversal is neither feasible or sustainable” due to the current, skyrocketing operating and that the federal government no longer provides tertiary institutions funding beyond staff remuneration.
However, the students’ union stated in the memo the proposal of a fifty percent reduction of the proposed fee, which the university representatives noted.
The representatives agreed to return to the management but assured the students’ union of “a possible extensive meeting” before next week runs out.
