ACJ OAU Welcomes 54th Executive Council, Rewards Excellent Journalists 

 

The Association of Campus at Obafemi Awolowo University (ACJOAU) celebrated a night of opulence and renewed ambition with the inauguration and swearing-in ceremony of newly elected officials, held alongside the Association’s annual dinner and awards night at the Faculty of Agriculture Foyer on Tuesday, 1st September, 2026.

Esther Olatimehin gave her last speech as President of the Association. She acknowledged the selfless service of the other executives in her administration. She particularly recognized the exceptional service of the Chairman, Guild of Editors, Adedoyin Oguntade, stating that he has published over 300 reports in his tenure. Also, she highlighted  some of  the administration’s notable achievements, which include securing over 20 internship slots in media houses like Roundcheck and Lagos Voice, winning Pen Club of the Year, Best Journal for News Wire, among others. She then encouraged the next administration to maintain the ACJ standard and keep the good works of ACJOAU up.

The chairman of the electoral committee, Olamilekan Oluwatofunmi, led the executive members in taking their oaths of office. She also appreciated the efforts of the previous administration and proceeded to dissolve it.  

Afterwards, Samuel Faseyitan, the newly elected President of the Association, gave a short speech. He assured the members of the association that the new administration will uphold the legacy of the previous administrations.

Exceptional Members Awarded

To celebrate the efforts of members throughout the academic session, certificates were presented to those who actively served the Association, including volunteers at the International Campus Journalism Conference (ICJC), reporters and observers at the 2024/2025 Great Ife Students’ Union Elections, and the Electoral Committee of ACJOAU. 

In addition, awards of Excellence in various categories were presented to the respective individuals for their outstanding performances during the 2024/2025 administration :
