After Convocation, What’s Next?

Dearest Undergraduates, this is for you, not the graduates.  After Convocation, What’s Next? You’ve hustled away your steeze in exchange for a plate or more of party rice and cake. But as the convocation euphoria wears off, reality begins to set in. The question on everyone’s mind, but rarely asked, is: what’s next?

As undergraduates, it’s time to dust your books and buckle up. You’ve celebrated with others, now is the time to work on your CGPA. Attend classes regularly, go for tutorials, study with friends because this is the time to build your future. I am certain you don’t want to graduate with an embarrassing CGPA. You also want to have a tent for your convocation party, right? Yes, I know! The tent won’t appear without putting in a lot of effort.

It is easy to get caught up in the excitement of campus life, but it’s crucial to remember that your time in school is limited. Before you know it, you’ll be trading in your student ID for a briefcase and a 9-to-5 job. But are you prepared for what comes next? Have you taken the time to develop skills beyond your coursework? Do you have a plan for your career, or are you relying on luck to carry you through? The truth is, the job market is more competitive than ever. Employers are no longer just looking for graduates; they’re looking for individuals with skills, experience, and a proven track record of success.

So, as you’ve celebrated your friends or sibling’s convocation, take a moment to reflect on your journey. What skills do you need to develop? What experiences do you need to gain? What connections do you need to make? The real world is waiting, and it’s up to you to prepare yourself for it. The next few years will fly by faster than you think. Make the most of your time, and set yourself up for success. The future is yours for the taking.
