The Association of Campus Journalist of Obafemi Awolowo University, ACJ OAU, is established to train and nurture students who are interested in journalist. Part of its aim is to provide a platform where student can take up the skill of journalism and storytelling to help them develop these skills and and make impact after school.
In preparation for the new academic session, ACJOAU begins her recruitment process. It started with the registration of intending campus journalists who are to apply by registering with the sum of #1500 each.
The exercise is part of the obligations of the News Agency to enlist new members who are interested in journalism. The recruitment process is to ensure that interested candidates are qualified having gone through proper accessing. Part of the qualifications is to be a member of a News Agency registered under ACJ on campus. On the 22nd of November, 2024, the payment deadline was closed after which the interview was scheduled to hold the next day.
The recruitment process took a great turn as the interview process began on Saturday, 24th of November, 2024 at First Bank Lecture Theatre on campus. Out of numerous News Agencies registered under ACJ OAU, over 50 candidates showed up for the interview. The Interview for the new campus journalists kickstarted as at 8am. There were five sessions in total for the interview. The general knowledge was based on general facts about the campus and journalism. Register and basic lexical skills session is used to test their knowledge about vocabulary. The fourth stage, which happens to be essay writing will help examiners to see how each candidate is able to construct words and weave them together. The final session which was the Oral interview was anchored by the Chief Editors of News Agencies on campus, where candidates are been asked oral questions.
The Interview session was successfully conducted. The intending campus journalists are expecting to await their results to know those who made it to the final list of the New ACJ OAU members. The qualified members will be inducted into the association and will be given an ID card to certified as a Campus Journalist.
