Second Tragedy: Ibadan Shops Razed Down

Barely two weeks after an explosion rocked Adeyi Avenue, Bódìjà in Ibadan, Oyo state, another unfortunate incident occurred on Monday 29th of January,  as fire razed down shops in Ibadan.

 

There was commotion around Ire Akari Estate Area of Soka, Ibadan, following a fire outbreak at a Furniture shop. An alarm was raised as soon as the shop caught fire, though the cause of the fire was unknown.

 

A social media user posted on her X hande about the fire incident, while soliciting for help. Rosheethat posted on her X handle a video of the raging fire in Ibadan. She wrote, “Ire Akari Soka right now. Anybody that can help us.”

 

Another X user posted on his X handle around 2:57pm, after a failed attempt to reach the fire service. He wrote, “There’s currently a fire outbreak at Ire Akari Estate, Soka, Ibadan. Please, the fire service is needed! It is getting out of hand!! I’m trying to call them but not connecting. Help is needed.”

 

However, despite various attempts by the people to stop the fire from affecting other shops, some shops were still affected. As at now, the fire has been completely quenched due to the intervention of the fire service. Even so, the affected shops had been completely razed down.
