West African Universities Game 2023 Unfolds at OAU, Dispelling Confusion!

The West African Universities Games (WAUG’23) roared to life at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, on December 15. But there was confusion among students as the expected kick-off didn’t happen.

Sumbade Saudiq, the Director of Sports, Great Ife Students’ Union, clarified that December 16 was designated for the arrival of all participating universities.

In an exciting update, it was announced that the Opening Ceremony would take place at the Sports Complex on December 17, creating additional anticipation and festivity for the event.

The event will commence officially on Monday as over 200 universities will participate in various sports like tennis, basketball, table tennis, and athletics.

These student-athletes are gearing up to battle it out for glory, pushing their limits and rewriting sports history. The stands will be electric, the competition will be fierce, and the memories unforgettable.

The grand finale on December 22nd, buckle down, because the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, will grace the event with her presence to give a talk to the prestigious champions.
