Victor Osimhem is a Nigerian professional footballer who plays as a striker for Serie A club Napoli and the Nigeria national team. He is regarded as one of the best strikers in the world.
Chelsea is prepared to offer Napoli star, Victor Osimhen, a huge salary to secure his signing in the summer transfer window ahead of Premier League rivals, Manchester United and Tottenham also interested in signing the in-form striker. Osimhen leading Napoli’s charge for a first Scudetto title this century with 19 goals in 21 league games.
According to Calciomercato, Boehly is willing to double Osimhen’s current € 4.5 million (£ 3.9 million) salary to beat United to his signature this summer. Napoli owner Aurelio De Laurentiis has slapped a price tag of €130million (£ 115 million) on his star striker in the hopes of keeping hold of Osimhen for another season before he enters the final year of his contract.
The Blues need a clinical number nine this summer with Romelu Lukaku unlikely to stay at Stamford Bridge when he returns from his loan at Inter Milan, whilst Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Kai Havertz have both struggled for form in front of goal this season. Despite the array of talents Chelsea has in attack, Graham Potter’s side is struggling to find the back of the net.
The Blues have scored 23 goals this season, the lowest among the teams in the top half of the Premier League table, and that’s why they are in the market for a proven goalscorer. The need for a clinical striker is clear and Osimhen would certainly fit the bill for the Blues, because of some of the qualities he possessed which are listed below:
1) Firstly, Osimhen’s positional awareness is better than all the strikers Chelsea has at the moment. This is why his expected goals or xG (goals expected to be scored from chances got) are more than that of Kai Havertz and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, the two main strikers at Chelsea at the moment.
2) Osimhen is more prolific than current Chelsea’s striking options. It is one thing for a striker to put himself in a dangerous position and it is another thing for him to find the back of the net when he gets the chance.
3) Osimhen is combining better with teammates than Aubameyang and Havertz. He has recorded more assists than the Chelsea duo. While the 24-year-old has been receiving help from his teammates, he has also been setting up his teammates in dangerous positions. Osimhen’s ability to combine with teammates will also help Joao Felix, Raheem Sterling, Noni Maduke, and others get more goals for Chelsea.
Victor Osimhen said in an interview with ESPN. He said it is up to Napoli to decide his future amid interest from Chelsea, Manchester United, and several other clubs.”But I am focused on Napoli right now and they have the final say. I just want to help my team to win matches and win trophies. At the end of the season, we will see what is going to happen, but that is not up to me. It is for the club to decide.”
