In the early hours of Thursday, Forces Intelligence Bureau arrested Mr Oriyomi Hamzat of Agidigbo 88.7FM and whisked him away to Abuja.
According to the press release from the management of Agidigbo 88.7 Fm, in the past few days, security operatives subjected the presenter, Oriyomi Hamzat to several interrogations. Firstly by the State Intelligence Bureau at Eleyele in Oyo State.
It is observed that this call came as a result of Mr Hamzat’s unrelenting effort to get justice for the postgraduate student of Obafemi Awolowo University who experienced a horrible death at Maye of Ife’s hotel, Chief Rahman Adedoyin in Ile-Ife.
According to Sahara Reporters, “SaharaReporters learnt that the State Intelligence Bureau of the Nigeria Police, Eleyele had in a letter dated Monday, May 23 invited Hamzat to be at the office on Tuesday, May 24 at 11 am” http://saharareporters.com/2022/05/26/breaking-adegokes-murder-agidigbo-fm-managing-director-oriyomi-hamzat-arrested-over.
However, in the statement released, the management of Agidigbo FM claimed that the situation worsened when the SIB handed over its chairman to the Force Intelligence Bureau (FIB) on Thursday, 26th May.
Meanwhile, a source reported that one of Oriyomi’s aides claimed:
“The SIP invited him and handed him over to the FIB, Abuja. The letter is concerning Timothy Adegoke.
They initially took him to the airport in Lagos and from there, he was taken to Abuja. He only honoured their invitation.”
The report gathered proved that his arrest followed the petition Rahman Adedoyin forwarded to the Deputy Inspector General of Police alleging the founder of Agidigbo 88.7 FM of defamation, false alarm, incitement and unlawful interference with the police investigation and judicial proceedings.
Therefore, they call on concerned citizens at home and abroad to see to the matter to ensure that no injustice is measured to the presenter as he only clamoured for justice for the deceased family for the sake of humanity.
