On the 22nd of February, 2022, members of the Ogun state police command apprehended five suspected cultists for being reportedly involved in the death of their fellow police man; Akeem Oseni. The gang has been said to be on the wanted list of the force were hauled in their hideout along the Molipa Road, Ijebu Ode as they were plotting another storm.
DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi the state police public relations officer stated on the 27th of February the identities of the suspects as Segun Olabiyi, Musa ATANDA, Olorunjedalo Adewale, Olamide Odewole and Peter Akinyemi. He made it known that the men were apprehended in accordance with the information received by the police men at the Obalende divisional headquarters, Ijebu Ode.
Also, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi said the police were informed that the gang who are confirmed members of the notorious Aiye Confraternity wee assembling in groups at the back of a particular hotel named ‘De Prime Hotel’ in readiness for another attack.
According to him, “Ongetting the information, the Obalende division DPO, Salami Murphy prepared his team members and headed for the location “
He continued “As the cultists sighted the policemen, they engaged them in an exchange of bullets but we’re nipped to the bus by the prevailing bullets of the policemen which gave the chance to arrest five of them while the others narrowly escaped with bullet wounds.
After, the hullabaloo at the scene, items like a local gun, multifarious criminal charms and two love cartridges were recovered.
Preceding investigations shows that the suspects were fully into different cult uproar that has sent many innocent souls to their early graves, Sergeant Akeem Oseni of Igbeba division being their recent victim.
