Nigeria’s Best-Kept Secret: Popular Nigerian Authoress Welcomes Twins Ten Months Ago

Popular Nigerian authoress Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, widely admired for her literary works and feminist voice, has been noticeably absent from social media since the start of the year, leaving many questioning her whereabouts. It has now come to light that the renowned author welcomed twins ten months ago, unveiling the secret behind her quiet online presence.

She is the author of the famous novels, “Purple Hibiscus,” “Half of A Yellow Sun” and “Americanah.” She is also regarded as a central figure in postcolonialist feminist literature.

Her last post on her Instagram account before going silent until now only talked about the upcoming launch of her latest novel, “Dream Count”, the first she’ll release after ten years of publishing one.

However, while the fuss about her new novel was everywhere, Chimamanda welcomed two bouncing baby boys in May 2024 and has been nursing them secretly. This became news when she had an exclusive interview with a news reporter at her home outside Baltimore, a city in Maryland in the United States.

In the interview, she stated that she wanted to protect her children and described Nigerians as being nosy. In her words, “They want to know about your personal life. Because of that, I am resistant.”

However, this news has been keeping people talking. Questions like, “How was she able to bear children at her age?”, “Will there be any side effects of birthing at such an age?” and other related questions are being asked by Nigerians on the internet.

Also, netizens are left in awe of how she was able to hide the news of her bundles of joy since they were conceived ten months ago.

It must be noted also that when she gave birth to her first daughter and child, it was also a hidden agenda. She said, “I just feel like we live in an age when women are supposed to perform pregnancy. I went into hiding. I wanted it to be as personal as possible,”

In conclusion, Chimamanda’s circle must really be tight for her pregnancy not to be known till the point of labor and for raising her babies for ten months.
