The president of the OAU students’ union Omoboriowo Damilola Isaac, popularly known as Dr Bush, has debunked claims of receiving rice palliative. This claim circulated from the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President of Nigeria on Student Engagement.
On Tuesday, January 21, Dr Bush urged the entirety of Great Ife to disregard any document stating him as a beneficiary of a rice palliative distribution initiative.
He continues that he focuses on ‘advocating for better standards of education and welfare of students, not accepting handouts that do not address the systemic challenges facing the Nigerian education sector.’
Although he acknowledged the intentions of the government, he considers it pertinent to channel resources towards pressing matters such as the improvement of the educational quality, reduction of tuition, upgrade of infrastructure and enhancement of opportunities for students across the nation.
He further asserts that his administration is committed to promoting the interests of the students. As of the time of publishing this report, the release’s authenticity on rice palliative distribution has not been confirmed.
