The National Association of Ondo State Students (NAOSS) successfully concluded its Freshers’ Week with an exhilarating mountaineering activity. This event culminated in a week-long celebration to welcome new students to the institution.
The festivities commenced on Monday with an awareness campaign, which set the tone for the remainder of the week. On Tuesday, NAOSS hosted a Career Day event, featuring insightful lectures on achieving balance in life.
One of the speakers emphasized the importance of balancing academic pursuits with other aspects of life while also introducing the concept of “NEWS” – an acronym representing key principles for personal and professional growth:
Networking: Building and maintaining relationships that foster opportunities and support.
Excellence: Striving for exceptional performance in one’s chosen field or niche.
Willingness: Demonstrating a readiness to learn, adapt, and take on new challenges.
Storytelling: Developing the ability to effectively share one’s experiences, values, and vision with others.
These principles aim to inspire and equip freshers with the skills and mindset necessary to succeed in their academic and professional journeys.
The week’s events provided a platform for new students to connect with their peers, engage with faculty members, and become acquainted with the institution’s culture and values.
In addition, the Ondo State Students Association hosted a movie night at the SUB TV room. Chris Salmanpour’s 2023 action thriller Retribution kept the audience glued to the screen as they enjoyed every part of the movie. On Thursday, a friendly football match between freshers and staylites of the association followed.
The mountaineering activity involved various games like Amapiano, Rizz, airtime giveaway, and, of course, item 7.
