NAOSS OAU Chapter Hosts Movie Night

The National Association of Ondo State Students (NAOSS), Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) chapter, hosted a movie night yesterday at the SUB TV Room for both Ondo and non-Ondo indigenes.

The event kicked off with entertainment from a DJ before the formal commencement. Although scheduled to begin at 4:00 PM, the event started at 5:45 PM due to the need to sort out tickets for participants entering the venue.

During the program, MC Blaq engaged the audience with a lively session, posing questions related to the translation of the Ondo dialect. This interaction featured giveaways for participants who answered correctly

MC Blaq shared a personal connection with Ondo, explaining that his mother is from the state, which influenced his decision to attend the event.

He also expressed his passion for entertaining the guests, stating that his primary goal was to ensure everyone had an enjoyable time.

He also recognized prominent Ondo artistes like Teni Makanaki and Niniola, prompting a sing-along as the DJ played their songs. A minute of silence was observed in honor of the late Ondo artiste, Mohbad.

After much entertainment and more giveaways from MC Blaq and his co-MC, the movie, Retribution, began at 7:36 PM.

The 2023 action thriller, written by Chris Salmanpour, tells the gripping story of a man who, while driving with his two children, receives a call from an unknown number. The caller claims there is a bomb in the car, forcing the protagonist to follow precise instructions to ensure the safety of his children and himself.

The audience was captivated by the movie’s thrilling scenes, which elicited gasps and remarks throughout. Refreshments were provided during the screening, adding to the overall experience.

The NAOSS OAU chapter successfully created a memorable evening of entertainment and cultural connection, bringing together students from diverse backgrounds to celebrate Ondo heritage.
