Obafemi Awolowo University Postpones Matriculation Ceremony

Obafemi Awolowo University has postponed the matriculation ceremony of new students for the 2023/2024 academic session. The matriculation ceremony was originally slated to be held on Thursday, December 5th, but has now been postponed indefinitely.

According to a special release signed by the Registrar and Secretary to Council, K. A. Bakare, the University Administration will convey a new and convenient date to the school. This is as a result of the administration working all hours to make sure preparations are properly organised.

Freshmen are advised to take note of the change in the matriculation postponement and make preparations for the new date which will be announced accordingly.

A freshman, who wishes to remain anonymous, commented on this postponement and its effect on his fellow mates. According to him, ‘I think the matriculation ceremony was postponed because of the state of the Amphitheatre, and probably because of some issues with some people’s admission statuses, too. I heard that the Amphitheatre is the default venue for the matriculation ceremony.

‘However, we can see that it is in no shape to host any form of event presently. I hope that whatever issue it is gets fixed soon so that new students can officially become bona fide students. We understand that it is only after matriculation that we receive our matric numbers.’

In conclusion, Obafemi Awolowo matriculation ceremony has caused some disappointment among the freshmen, but many remain hopeful that whatever the issues may be will be resolved quickly.

The University Administration has assured all stakeholders of their commitment to ensuring a successful matriculation. Freshmen are encouraged to stay patient and focused as they await further updates from the school authorities.
