Exploring the Heights: ASSEES Freshers’ Epic Mountaineering Adventure at OAU

ASSESS Mountaineering

In a display of courage and adventure, a group of freshers from the Association of English Education Students (ASSEES), Obafemi Awolowo University(OAU) embarked on an extraordinary mountaineering experience at OAU. 

The expedition was organised by the Office of the Director of Socials ASSESS, providing these freshers with a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity on the majestic slopes of the mythical mountain. 

Also, despite being new to the world of mountaineering, the freshers displayed remarkable determination and teamwork as they conquered challenging terrains. 

Moreover, as the event progressed, Tosin Adesokan, ASSESS President told the freshers to enjoy themselves because OAU is not for learning only, as this experience is once in a lifetime.

However, there was a lot of fun and games during this event and there was a scholarship for one person for the Adroit tutorial including material and a notebook. 

There was a lot of gifts given during this wonderful event like lip care product, books, clothes, perfume, liquid soap etc. 

In the process, a competition was done in which Mr & Mrs Freshers was chosen. Paul and Olajide Eunice emerged as the Mr & Mrs Freshers for the Mountaineering 2023.

Speaking to our correspondent, Mr Fresher said, “It was a beautiful competition and to win. Also, it was fun to have a mountain view from OAU, I felt like I was at the peak of the world.” 

Mrs Fresher said, “I was excited winning, also, it was fun trying good things as this is my first mountain experience.” 

Speaking to INFOCUS AGENCY correspondent, Paul one of the freshers said it was an amazing experience on the mountain. Oluwatomisin said it was fun and educative.  Heritage said it was fun, and also an adventure to network and learn.  They gave kudos to the excos of ASSESS to keep up the good work. 

This incredible journey will undoubtedly be a highlight of their university life, as the participants returned with unforgettable memories, newfound friendships and a newfound appreciation for the natural beauty and challenges of the great outdoor event.  

Ultimately, their mountaineering experience is a testament to the adventurous spirit that can be found within OAU’s student body.
