Obafemi Awolowo University student on Teusday, October 3, have poured out have poured out in mass to stage a peaceful protest at the campus gate.
The protest is in reaction to the recent school fees hike, which is over 300% of the previous fees paid per session.
The students’ union had previously met with the university management on several occasions over the hike of the school fees, which resulted in the reduction of the original fees, opposed to the 50% reduction demanded.
The students blocked the campus main gate, preventing staff, students, vehicles and other stakeholders access into the university premises the morning.
At the gate, they demanded a 50% reduction of the originally proposed price and requested for the installment payments promised by the Vice Chancellor.
