OAU postpones Students’ Union Inauguration and Swearing-in..

The Inauguration and Swearing in ceremony of the newly elected Students’ Union Leaders for the 2021/2022 academic session which was scheduled to hold on Thursday 3rd of March,2022 by 12pm at Oduduwa hall has been postponed.

Recall that the Management placed a ban on Student’s Union activities since 2017.Four years after,the ban got lifted in 2021.

However a Protest which was caused by the death of a final year student of the Department of Foreign Languages led to the closure of the School as well as disruption of the rain Semester examination placed the Inauguration and Swearing- In Ceremony on hold.They claimed this decision was necessary to forestall total breakdown of law order and curtail any acts of violence.It has been five months since the election now

 

The Postponement was revealed at a four day leadership retreat Organized by the University Management at Miccom Golf Hotels and Resorts,Ada- Iragbiji,Osun State.The Vice Chancellor and a top Officials were Present.The Retreat Commenced on Sunday,27th of February,2022 and is expected to end on Wednesday,2nd of March,2022.

 

The chairman,Great Ife Students’ Union Electoral Commission,Comrade Ajayi Oluwafemi,FM Castro stated “Inauguration has been postponed, I’ll Update you later”.

The elected Student’s Union Officers were charged to be selfless.

The new date for the Inauguration and Swearing Ceremony will now be Tuesday,8th of March 2022 at Africa Amphitheatre by 12pm.
