Professor Alaba Adediwura Emerges Dean, Faculty of Education, OAU

Professor Alaba Adeyemi Adediwura has been appointed as the new Dean of the Faculty of Education at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) in Ile-Ife, Osun State.

In a closely contested election held last week, Professor Adediwura, a specialist in Tests and Measurement, received 70 votes, defeating his opponent, Professor Tayo Subair, who garnered 33 votes.

Following his election victory, Professor Adediwura expressed sincere gratitude to the members of the Faculty Board for their trust and support. He also recognised his campaign team for their hard work and commended Professor Subair for his sportsmanship throughout the process.

“I am deeply humbled by your trust. I pledge to uphold the values of academic excellence, integrity, and collaboration. Together, we will build on the legacies of past deans and advance our Faculty,” he stated.

Professor Alaba Adeyemi Adediwura is a Professor of Tests and Measurement at Obafemi Awolowo University. He is recognised for promoting fairness in student assessments and providing constructive feedback even when students’ performance falls below expectations.

He has authored several notable scholarly works, including:

  • Evaluation of Preliminary National Diploma Programme (2000)
  • Religiosity and Perceived Family Support as Correlates of Self-Esteem (2007)
  • Effect of Evaluative Feedback on Students’ Self-Efficacy (2007)
  • Cooperative Learning and Academic Achievement (2008)

His research interests cover test development, educational evaluation, student psychology, and feedback methodologies.
