The organizer of the Supremacy Cup has officially announced that the tournament’s suspension has been lifted, clarifying the circumstances surrounding the pause and putting rumours to rest.
Contrary to widespread speculation, the suspension was not ordered by the Office of the Director of Sports (DOS) or the Student Union; it was solely the decision of the tournament organizer, Olalekan.
The Supremacy Cup, which is a qualification-based tournament featuring champions from earlier competitions in the session, was temporarily paused to allow for internal deliberations with key stakeholders in the football community.
Following successful discussions, the organizers confirmed that the tournament would continue. Additionally, the much-anticipated final match of the second edition will take place at OAU Main Bowl on Monday, April 28, 2025, where the Computer and Mathematics teams will compete for the title.
The public is urged to disregard any unofficial information regarding the tournament and to rely on updates issued directly by the organizer.
Olalekan apologized for any confusion caused by the earlier misinformation and expressed appreciation for the public’s understanding and continued support.
