The Association of Campus Journalists (ACJ) hosted the International Campus Journalism Conference (ICJC) 2024, drawing seasoned journalists, media experts and tech professionals from around the nation. The event was held at Ajose Lecturer Theatre, Obafemi Awolowo University on 4th April.
The keynote speaker, Oluseun Onigbede, Global Director of BudgIT addressed the things we need to know about media innovations and technologies. He spoke about things journalists need to consider to leverage Media. In addition to the conference was the first-panel section, the moderator for this section, Tosanwanmi Elizabeth Tarre, UCJ Ibadan President and the panelists Titilope Fadare, Publisher BONews, Blessing Oladunjoye, Assistant Podcast Editor, SciDev.Net, Sub-Saharan Africa, English Edition.
Moroever, Rahamon Abiola, Editor of Legit.ng speaks on the role of social media in the Newsroom and gives some keys to a picture post that works which are: social lead, originality, picture post quality, and call to action.
Also, the second-panel session was moderated by Olatunji Usman, Erstwhile UCJ Unilorin Guild of Editors. The panellists are David Afolayan, Co-founder and content chief, Technext, Ganiu Oloruntade, Reporter, TechCabal, and Bolu Abiodun, Senior Reporter, Techpoint Africa. They discussed the financial sustainability of media houses and concluded that quality Journalism is expensive.
The conference also provided a platform for networking and collaboration with participants from schools like UNILAG, U.I, AAUA, UNIOSUN etc to exchange ideas and contribute to the advancement of journalism. Overall, the ICJC 2024 was a resounding success under the leadership of Latinwo Gbolohan, ACJ-OAU President with the Media innovations transforming the journalism industry.
