The former governor of Osun State, Ogbeni Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola is currently making a political mistake as he sets to go against Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu over the upcoming Osun State gubernatorial election that has been scheduled to hold in July by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has been equally divided into two separate parts and the party is not well coordinated.
The Osun Progressives ( TOP), a group strongly backed up by Aregbesola has been trying to outsmart the incumbent governor of the state on many occasions. The group has in attendance the presence of prominent politicians in Osun State such as the former Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, Honourable Lasun Yusuf and Najeem Salam. The former Secretary to the State Government, Moshood Adeoti, is also one of the prominent members of the rebellious group.
However, as a national leader of the ruling party, people have expected Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu not to take sides in the battle of prominence going on in Osun State between the Osun Progressives (TOP) camp and Oyetola’s camp. As things stand now, the court of law has declared TOP camp as illegal and recognized Oyetola’s camp as the only party’s camp in Osun State. This will not be possible without the influence of some people which includes but is not limited to Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Furthermore, Aregbesola has sporadically gone against Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu in his recent words. He accused Tinubu that he is portraying himself as a God. He also claimed that he was ready to fight Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu very well and he does not want to be blindly controlled by him. While Aregbesola’s actions are bold and commendable, he is making a political mistake by acting against his godfather. Tinubu is the person that brought him to where he is present. He should have regards for him.
